The Jeep Ducking custom originated in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 epidemic.
An Ontario woman named Allision Parliament purchased a bunch of rubber duckies at a convenience store and traveled from her home in Alabama to her home in Ontario, Canada.
On the way, she stopped at a gas station to fill up her Jeep After a verbal altercation with another person, she became so frustrated with the incident that she drove to a friend’s house to cool off and then continued on home. To thank her friend for his kindness, Allision bought some plastic ducks to put around his house to give him a good laugh.
As she was leaving the store, Allision saw a Jeep similar to her Jeep in the parking lot. Thinking about her previous frustration, she wrote a note on one of the ducks to make the owner happy and left it on the lot. Some say it said “nice jeep”, others say it said “have a nice day”, but that doesn’t matter, what matters is that the owner saw it and was in a good mood. But that’s not important, what is important is that the owner of the car was in a good mood when he saw it and smiled. He then convinced her to take a picture and post it on social media. That night, #DuckDuckJeep was born after being posted on Instagram and the rest is history.
Soon, tons of photos showing rubber ducks in jeeps appeared across the country. Within a year, the trend had spread to more than 30 countries. Even Jeeps got in on the act. When announcing the launch of the new Wrangler Rubicon, they added the #duckduckjeep hashtag.
